Image Enhancement

Image Enhancement

Our sonar image enhancement is based on robust geometric estimation of the (moving) camera with respect to the target and then virtually moving the camera to a single location and fusing the images which correspond to a single location. While this is a well-known procedure in computer vision and is routinely done on video and still cameras, it is very difficult to perform on sonar images. This is due to the large variation in pixel size and the very small number of (noisy) pixels which compose an image.

We have demonstrated a robust algorithm for such image enhancement that performs the extensive calculations in real time.

The ClearSight™ products are based on this and so are the video image enhancement (see sonar).
